This weeks course on our mission to review every golf course in Australia is:
We get around to a lot of golf courses for this website and we are always excited to play Golf but this week we were super excited, its not every day you get to play on a championship level Golf course and the Sanctuary Lakes Golf Course, surrounded by beautiful lakes, this long, undulating and bunker infested golf course is a must for any golfer.
Being a Greg Normal designed golf course you know its going to be great for the long hitters, make sure you get yourself a cart because there are some long walks between holes
One of the first things you will notice at the Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club is not just how good a condition the fairways are in but its not just the quality of the fairways its the undelation too, seldom do you get a flat lie, every shot on this course will make you think, if its not the undulation its the fantastic use of water
We can't talk about the Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club and not talk about the bunkers, you may want to get some practice in before you play here because you WILL find yourself in one, as you can see from the photo below I flirted a little to much with the bunkers and found myself in a very difficult fairway bunker
If you're lucky like we were and you get to play Sanctuary Lakes on a relatively calm sunny day then you are in for a real golf treat, it is on of the most picturesque courses you will find in Melbourne, you'll be eyeing off the surrounding houses wondering how much it costs to get a property lining this beautiful course
If you're a high handicapper or you're new to the game of golf then I would suggest bringing along a dozen or so Golf Balls, not only is the water very prominent (see below) but some of the thick grass can gobble up your ball, never to be seen again
We had an amazing time at the Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club, we were so lucky with the weather and that really can make or break your day, what you are guaranteed to get is amazing fairways, greens and bunkers, spectacular views and a very challenging layout, you wont regret a day out at Sanctuary Lakes, after the round you can sit at the tables outside the bar and watch people hit their balls into the water on 18.

45 minutes from Melbourne, on the way to Ballarat is the tiny but beautiful town of Ballan, not far from the town centre is one of the best value golf courses in the region, the Ballan Golf Course, at $20 a round this course is well worth the drive and you'll be surprised how great some of the holes are. 2024-11-09 10:22:16 am
