This weeks course on our mission to review every golf course in Australia is:
We have been spoiled in our trip to the Gold Coast, the Glades, Lakeside, Boomerang Farm but today we are finishing the trip off with an absolute bang, the Palm Meadows golf course, pitching itself as the original Gold Coast resort course, Palm Meadows lives up to expectations.
We played the back nine first then the front, but what really stood out to us was the 18th hole, we called it the best hole we've ever played and for good reason, even through I lost 2 golf balls on it I was amazed by it, the extremley long 500 meter hole winds its way around a massive lake, tempting you to go over the water, and if you somehow manage to do that you've got water running in front of the enormous green just to mess with your ball one last time.
You don't go through to many holes on this golf course without water being a danger, so make sure you pack a few extra golf balls, I managed to hit 4 into the water, luckily my golf bag has enough golf balls in it to sink a ship.
The greens and fairways are what you would expect from this level of course, if you find the fairway off the tee your never going to have a bad lie, the greens are quite generous and there's nothing out there thats really going to mess with your putting, most of the greens having gentle slopes and not overly quick.
We love water on a golf course and Palm Meadows has it more than most, if you're planning a trip to the Gold Coast you would be crazy not to include it on your list of courses to play, there is so much golfing fun to be had in southern Queensland and this course is right at the top of the list.
