This weeks course on our mission to review every golf course in Australia is:
Driving into the Keilor Golf Club I had very little idea what I was going to see, I knew very little of the course and with the recent rain Melbourne has had, I was was expecting mud.
Walking onto the first tee I was instantly relieved, the fairways are presented magnificantly, they are not overly undulating but the grass is in fantastic condition and they are quite wide, which is a relief for us average golfers.
Once you make your way up the green you're greeted with a wonderful suprise, the greens are BIG, and they are in awesome condition, at $30 a round I did not expect to find a course in this good condition.
Its not an overly long course, but if the wind blows like it did when we were there some of the short holes can turn into a real challenge, like our signature hole, a short par 5 but it was straight into the teeth of the breeeze.
A couple of times throughout the round you'll get to see the melbourne airport in the distance, with planes taking off and landing, if you're interested in the golf course at the Melbourne Airport, check out our Melbouren Airport Golf Club review.
My only gripe I would say about this course is the fairways are a little flat, leading to a lot of similar shots at the green, if your iron play is dialed in there's no reason why you can't shoot a good score out here.
In my opinion the back nine of this course is better than the front, you get a lot more interesting looking holes and the scenery gets better, just like the cactus trees pictured above, all that said the course represents wonderful value, if you hit the links on a weekday like we did your in for an awesome time with little pressure to hurry up.

45 minutes from Melbourne, on the way to Ballarat is the tiny but beautiful town of Ballan, not far from the town centre is one of the best value golf courses in the region, the Ballan Golf Course, at $20 a round this course is well worth the drive and you'll be surprised how great some of the holes are. 2025-01-23 01:57:16 pm
