This weeks course on our mission to review every golf course in Australia is:
Melbournes sandbelt is known for having some of the best golf courses in the world, Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath, Victoria Golf Club and many more, but when it comes to the average golfer getting access and being able to afford it, The Cheltenham Golf Club just can't be beat.
Right from the start you can see that the Cheltenham Golf Course has those beautiful sandbelt fairways and greens, with rich green grass in fantastic condition
The greens are really well presented, they had been recently spiked when we played there but that didn't slow them down at all, in fact they were surprisingly fast.'
The greens don't have the nightmare slopes that you're going to get at other courses in the region, but that doesn't mean they wont be a challenge, with a nice splattering of well placed bunkers it will challenge most golfers
You can certainly get a good round going early with some driveable par fours, but don't get comfy because there's a par 5 coming that is going to challenge you'
With a blind tee shot and a massive dog leg you need to make sure you get off the tee in good shape here or you may find yourself scrabling to make par or worse.
This 9 hole course is literally next door to The Victoria Golf Club, some of that brilliance was sure to rub off on its little neighbour, with fantastic fairways and greens and a challenging layout, this course will not dissapoint, and for $29 a round, you wont find any cheaper courses in this area.
